      #35594 - 01/03/04 05:50 PM

Nova will be airing a special version on Sunday, Jan 4th:

One of the problems,Tom, with digital satellite tv in a not too big city is that we don't have the option to get local channels and that includes PBS (which I would only watch rarely anyway but this show would be one of them) :-(
I wouldn't give up the satellite though.

So you don't get OPB or PBS at all? That's a drag... Don't they have a repeater on OPB in Bend? You could always try the rabbit ears!

Mini, there are several repeats scheduled. If you miss it, let me know and I'll send to a VHS or a DVD.

The repeats should be interesting in themselves. I understand that they will carry updated material as the mission develops.

Does anyone remember; have they determined if the core of Mars is cooled? If we could send a wildcat team to Mars (assuming a warm core) and drill, deep, they may find liquid water.

Radar search for Martian water.

Debate over Mars' magnetic field. Sounds like it's probably a cooled core.

Would pressure alone be enough to raise the internal temp above 0°C?

They even think that the fact that the core is cold enough to have solidified, hence wiping out the magnetic field, is a good reason enough for Mars to lose its atmosphere.

There's also an idea floating around that in its youth the sun was much more vigorous, and that the solar wind (possibly a thousand times more powerful than today's) would have had a stronger erosive effect on an atmosphere not guarded by a magnetic field.

Rough universe we live in!

It's amazing we are alive, if you think about all the radiation and other nasty particles that go through us every moment of our lives.

Ya, those neutrinos would hurt if they had a bit more mass! What you don't know......
