I went to use my CPC 925 tonight and it wouldn't turn on I used it last night for about 3 hours with no problems. I suspect the AC adapter jack on the mount is the culprit. I am using a Celestron AC adapter. After it wouldn't turn on I checked it with my power tank....same thing. I spread the pin in the connector to make sure it is snug. I think I know what the problem may be. If I look into the jack it looks like there is a clip that may have been damaged. If someone can look at there power plug to confirm this I would greatly appreciate it. What I need to know is if there is a spring clip on the side that presses up against the outside of the power plug. If that exists then it looks like mine somehow got squished to the bottom of the jack. I know my explanation of what I am looking at is pretty week...sorry. Hopefully someone will know what I am talking about.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Bob,
My CPC 800 doesn't have the 'clip' you're describing inside the jack. You might want to double check that you're actually getting voltage at the plugs although having two separate cords fail seems unlikely.
If you feel adventerous, remove the upper portion of the 'flying saucer' and check for voltage at the jack.
Hope its something simple.

There has to be something contacting the outer sleeve of the connector - it's the negative pole of the power bus. And yes, it should be springy so that it applies pressure, making the connection secure.
I get the feeling that yours has failed. Should be easy enough to fix, but you'll have to remove the fork base cover to gain access.

Problem fixed The problem was what I thought it was. I was able to remove the jack from the scope and manipulate the negative contact into place. All works well now. I think the problem stemmed from the plug on my AC adapter. I just bought it and have use it only twice. The plug was not a great fit into the socket. It was pretty tight. At first I thought I bought the wrong adapter since it didn't go into the socket smoothly. Thankfully all is well now. I may see if I can purchase a new jack from Celestron in the interest of having things be perfect.
Thanks for the help.

Yikes, I keep reading about electrical problems with the CPC.
Does this otherwise magnificent beast have an Achilles heel in the form of delicate electrical circuitry?
In 1700s Britain (Admiral Nelson and all that good stuff), this was known as "spoiling the ship for a hap'worth of tar".

I think that they do a great job with the scope itself, but that they kinda skimp on the power plugs. One problem I had was that the wires came unsoldered inside the car lighter part of my power plug. It was an almost new cord from Celestron (had used it twice), they just did a shoddy job soldering. An easy fix and it works great now, I just wish they would do as good a job with their power supplies and connectors as they do with the scope itself.
