Hi, The heading is silly, of course, because of the great difference in size.
I did some star testing of the AT1010 and found the optics to be null. The diffraction pattern was very clean and identical intra/out focus. The AT1010 has a very fine objective.
I looked at the Double-Double and had a clean split at 100X. I could have gone a little lower and still split it. I also pointed the 5" at the Double-Double at about 100X. The split was cleaner because of the smaller star images. That's as a result of greater aperture. No big deal as I expected that.
Of course there was the blue fringe around Vega as expected. The moon had quite a bit of blue fringing through the AT1010. An MV1 filter removed most of the blue fringe.
The only surprise was that the chromatic aberrattion was less evident in the 5" refractor than in the AT1010. My expectations was for the opposite or about the same. The 5" refractor has a longer f/ratio, but its greater aperture should have made the perceived c.a. about the same.
I'm not concerned about this at all, because the spherical correction is excellent with no signs of astigmatism or pinched optics.
The lil' guy is just fine.

Al, I got pretty much the same result with my Nighthawk vs. my CR150. The only difference is that my CR150 shows a little more color than the Nighthawk. This is in line with expectations as the CR150 is only f/8. I will need a couple of anti-violet filters in the future. Either your MV-1 or the Orion V-Block. I am definitely happy with my scopes.
