Dec motor runaway - TITAN 50 Mount new
      #3616151 - 02/10/10 02:56 AM

Just noticed another problem.
I have my scope C14 aligned so many times and still check it everytime.
Images taken like 60s. show the beginning of star trailing.
Now I run ECU 5.0 and can watch the coordinates where the scope is pointing at.
I was pointing at comet 29P and noticed that the DEC coordinates (last digit) starts to count up very slowly, then I checked the coordinates of the Gemini handcontroller and indeed the same thing was happening there. Is something going wrong here. Can I 'freeze' the coordinates and let the scope track the coordinates that I input in the PC ?
Just want to know what's going on.

Freddy

depends on your software: are you actually programmed to track the comet??? If so, you're going to get star trailing! (the scope is following the comet)

There is a Yahoo! Titan group where you can pursue these issues a bit further.

Yahoo Losmandy Titan Group

When I manually input the coordinates then it happens, but when I slew to the object while watching the coordinates and stop at the position I want to be, there is no 'runaway'.
It only happens by manually inputting the coodinates and press RA+ (enter) to confirm.
I will visit the yahoo group, thanks for the link.

Erratic behavior power of computerized systems is often due to low power conditions. This is sometimes a function of very cold weather. But you're in Hawaii. It is also not unknown for hand controller chips to need to be replaced.
