I just recieved a couple more pieces for my collection of the Tele Vue Smoothie plossls.
So i had to take a picture. Almost all back together. Still missing the 7.4mm.
All of them are marked NJ except for te 17mm which is R.
I must say that im really pleased with them!
So since there almost together what other series of family's have been reunited? Any family photo's?

Is it true that the NJ means they were made in New Jersey?
Does anybody know what exit?

Great set! I've been collecting the Meade Smooth Sides in 1.25" format, I only lack a few more. Below is the family portrait: Back row= UWA 4.7mm and 6.7mm, SWA 18mm and 24mm; Plossls are in the middle and front row.

Very Nice Set.
Here's another - no 55, but I have the Barlows.
They are great eyepieces.

David E very nice Meade set! I have the 4.7mm + 8.8mm UWA and i really like them! How do the UWA 4.7mm and 6.7mm compare to each other? Little easier to view thru the 6.7mm? I find the 4.7mm is not that hard to look thru compared to some other eyepieces i had!
Rod, What can i say, great collection! Is the ER extremely tight for the 7.4mm?

Yea, it is pretty tight. I find myself reaching for my Zhummel 6mm Long Eye Relief more often than the TV 7.4mm when I need to work at that magnification range. It is just more comfortable for extended views.

Mark,
very nice set indeed!
I would not part ways with those either!
I had a meade 3000 40mm which stacked up real well vs the 40mm NJ TV. I was on the brink of picking up the 40mm 4000 smothie the one you have too. I was going to do a comparison between the three, but the seller pulled out of the deal last second???
I sold the 3000 and kept the TV but both eyepieces were top notch and im sure the 4000 smoothie is in there league!
"I like the "smooth" asthetic! especially the groove-less barrels."
Scott, i hear you, no extra plastic, no spoiler added, no extra rubber, no plastic chrome, no exsessive girth, no graffiti graphics!
Now people cover up everything in plastic like how some families covered up the chestafils (sofa's)!
Even in the automotive sector!!
I went to the auto show last year and almost every front hood i open up i did not see the engine it was all covered up! Very dissapointed with this new trend!
I used to be impressed by how engine's looked but not no more!
Anyways i was very impressed when i recieved the 55mm TV smoothie how it is so simplistic astheticly yet so impressive looking!

Thanks! The characteristics of the 6.7mm seem to be identical to the 4.7mm. I used them on Mars the other night and they work great! One of these days I'll have to do a head-to-head with my 6.7 5K UWA vs smooth side.
