Reflector OTA on a UA Mount
      #3650675 - 02/27/10 11:52 AM

Anyone out there mount their reflector ota on a Universal Astronomics mount? How about another alt/az mount that is similar? Thanks.

I put Mak-Newts on my Unistar all the time, it works wonderful. I haven't found a better value in an Alt-Az mount yet, I love mine.

Nice set up. Those are 5 inch f/6? Anyone out there use a 8 inch f/6?

The one in front is a 6.5" F5.5 Mak Newt, the one in back is a 6" F6. The Mak-Newts are heavier than a typical newtonian, so I would imagine an 8" F6 newt would be fine on weight, but the eyepiece height might get pretty high unless you have a short tripod or you are pretty tall.
