Me too, the next Jupiter opposition is in September and I can't wait until I get to use my ToUcam on it. Mars was just too much for me

Hum, that dull reddish smudge between the drawings is my blood! I remember cutting myself then, but not very clear! A Jupiter drawing in blood

Used to observe a lot back then because I worked night shift and learned to treat weekends like night shift, so it was easier to live. So, whenever time permitted I was at the telescope, at least from 1973 until I went on days sometime in the mid-to-early 1980's. I must have 10,000 drawings of stuff! So, living a night-shift life is boring! That was in my days of south Florida when seeing was for the most part near perfect.

nice sketch Jeff, i wonder about the tilt of jupiter in your sketch, i haven't seen a sketch like that, i thought we always saw jupiter dead straight on instead of a tilt? it's much more aesthetic that way though

I usually correct for the tilt in my drawings, but at times do not.

Jeff,

An excellent observation of Jupiter showing the South Equatorial Belt Disturbance (SEBD) and activity over the Equatorial Zone (EZ). I have taken the observation made using Wratten 35 (magenta) and green (W57) filters and darkened the background. Thank you for sharing them with us all.

Carlos

Matty,

This is a recurring phenomena over the South Equatorial Belt (SEB) of Jupiter. It occurs approximately every three years and is exciting to follow. This is one reason it is so fun to observe Jupiter.

Carlos, thanks for the cleanup of my "at the telescope" drafts. The finished reports are long gone to ALPO.
