William Optics is a Taiwan firm. As far as I know, Long Perng, also from Taiwan, has been making WO's scopes for quite some time; it was my impression that the objectives in the 22x70 were from the earlier model Zenithstar 70mm ED scope.

Just went to Kunming/ United Optics link...
1)Didn't realize my BT100s were BA7 series
2) The praised 20/28 x 110s are BA8 series
3) The 10.5/15 x 70 Ultras are BA8 series also.
Interesting that Garrett puts the BA8 series as higher quality (Signature) than the BA10s (Gemini 20x80s and 25x100s)
Also interesting is that Garrett's 20x80 BA10 model is a doublet while the Oberwerk version features a triplet objective.
So apparently different optics as well as cosmetics can be specified on BA series product. Kevin B (Oberwerk) apparently has financial interest in the factory that supplies his binoculars, so my read on this is there is more than one factory that is licensed to produce various incarnations of the various BA Series.
Certainly, not a transparent business model, and IMO the principles want to keep it that way for branding reasons (my binocular is unique). I asked both Garrett and Oberwerk directly if their latest offerings I bought (20x80 & 25x100....see reviews) were BA10 series and they would not give me a straight answer.
From the Kunming United Optics website....
"Also, United Optics fully respect and protect the customer’s proprietary technology and brand as we treat this point as the basis for any long-term cooperation, that is why we are winning more and more high reputation customers’ trust to make so many customized products."
