First of all I have a Meade standard field tripod with a mounted LX90 8" SC with a standard spotting scope that came with it. The only other thing I am using is a Meade series 4000 f/3.3 CCD focal reducer and a variable T-adapter with a deep sky imager. Ok my question is I am moving up to a wedge w/adapter now what I need to now is how much counter weight do I need so I am stable and also to not create any damage or stress to the gears in the RA and Dec assembly. Thinking On going with the Meade 5000 weight set dove tail bount w/the dove tail weight set. Would 3 lbs be enough or do I need more?

Thanks for all posts.

Gary, You are welcome. It looks like you are doing some imaging with your setup, I hope you get the weight issued settled. I should have looked at your link before firing off a response, now I see what you are talking about. I picked up a similar weight kit from ADM to balance my OTA on the DEC axis on my GEM.

This is JUST what I wanted. I don't mean to resurrect an old post but I am faced with this same issue. What is A B and C on a CGEM? I am trying to figure out how many weights I need to balance an Orion 8" F4 Astrograph, Orion 80mm F11 Guidescope, Celestron NexGuide and Canon T1i with a Celestron Aftermarket Dovetail.
Thanks,
