AP800 autoguiding question
      #3795860 - 05/09/10 04:29 PM Attachment (39 downloads)

I am selling my AP800 mount. A prospective buyer asked the following:

"I'm interested in the mount for wide field astro photography - do you know how well it works with an autoguider - if the motor controller has a drive rate setting of .5X sideral rate, rather than the normal
5X, 10X rates used for centering objects for visual use?"

Can anyone here help me answer the Question? If it is relevant, the mount does have a variable tracking rate. I am not sure if this translates into the question about the autoguider.

Thanks in advance for any help,

Bob

Best bet is to give AP a call.

From the controller, it looks to have 2x and 8x, but AP would know for sure, as LLEEGE said.

Agreed, the controller 2x and 8x, but it also has variable speed tracking as an option. It is selected on the controller as would sidereal, solar and lunar, then the speed is set by the dial on the upper right of the controller.

Thanks for the help so far...

Bob

I'm guessing you have not had this mount long? Correct?

Do you have this link:

Your mount can be modified to be used with an auto-guider if it was not done at the time of purchase.
