Craters Goldschmidt an Anaxoras
      #3877793 - 06/21/10 03:32 PM Attachment (43 downloads)

In the last days my 6 inch Mak waited three times for a sketch - but I got always clouds. Today I had the chance of ~1 hour clear sky. I started with the highlight in the bright sunshine. A red filter helped to intensify the contrast. Then I worked on the shadows which I finished at 21:00 UT. (I always note the time of the shadow sketch). The sun was below the horizon then. At last I shaded the subtle details.

Maginification was 120x. More mag was not meaningful because of the low moon.

Uwe,

Wow! Very nice sketching. It is often a good idea to start on these quarter moon sketches in summer when the moon is near the meridian before sunset.

Frank

Uwe,

An outstanding observation of Goldschmidt and Anaxoras. Your lunar observations have improved dramatically over the short time that you have been posting them on the forum. Your gradients (shades) and shdows are better than ever. Thank you for sharing it with us all.

Carlos

I agree with Carlos. It looks like you have found your own style... and I like it!

Nice sketching. Great feeling of depth across such a shallow scene...

Uwe,

Nice sketch! I like those craters where one gets an oblique view. Your lunar sketches get better and better.

Thank you for your comments. I modified my sketching procedure some time ago. Before this I was not satified with the highlights. These are much better now.
