Excellent article. i also own an antares shorty 2x barlow and it works great with that scope. I was really surprised not to have CA looking at the moon with that f/4 scope, just like you experienced.
Great scope, and it works like a charm with nagler and panoptic EPs.

"Overall, the SV50 is a remarkably robust, attractive and good performing finder/scope compared to the plethora of offshore finders flooding the market."
Isn't this one from China as well? with a pit stop in CA before being sold?

I'd say yes, I have the SV F60M. It sure looks familiar, eh!

Yeah - it too is from China. I can only surmise that Stellarvue has a better spec that they work to, or that they are a lot pickier about what they will accept.

... China's a big place folks. Kunming has one of the better reputations among the Chinese optical manufacturers. That's not to say they don't produce a lemon now and then, but most folks with Kunming scopes are happy.. (SV70, SV50, SV102, Astro-telescopes 102,and 152). I have spoken to Vic personally on the subject of QC.. He gets the imports from China.. Inspects everything.. Then sends all the duds back. This is why the inventory fluctuates and sometimes models are not available. But it also means you get the best of the batch when you buy from Stellarvue. The premium APO scopes are made in Auburn with Rusian optics, so there are different supply issues with that group.
