EP for Baader new

Can someone make a good calculation for the most useful EP in combination with the TAK FSQ-106 ED and the TOA-130 with the Baader binoviewer Mark V.

If it is possible I will use a pair of the Ethos EP's. But which is the most useful, without degrade the scope's view quality?

Which magnification is the most useful?

Thanks!

Hi Maurits

This depends strongly on the object you want to observe and what minimum apparent field you require of the eyepieces.

Ethos eyepieces, except the shorter focal lengths, are not suited for binoviewing, simply because they're too big and heavy.

Also, can you reach focus with just the 1.25x corrector or is a stronger one needed? The FSQ has very limited back focus, as we discussed in another thread.

Clear skies!

Maurits, when I had my TOA-130F amd also a TSA-102 I used all kinds of eyepieces from a 4mm to a 24mm. Like Thomas said, it really depends on the object that you want to observe.

I use 24mm for low power; best performers are 24 Panoptics
IMO. I use 8mm for high power; observed with Brandon, TMB
Monocentric, and A-P SPL's. All Excellent. Have also used
low price/good quality Plossl's with good success.

I use mostly the 1.7X corrector; but have used the 1.25X on
low power eyepieces. I have used the 2.6X corrector with my
f7 and f6.3 refractors with no problems.

My preference is for lightweight eyepieces to keep overall
weight down.

Wes

Got to agree with Wes on the Pan 24s. It is what I often use with my 140 EDF. I also use ZAO II's for pretty much everything else with that scope. The choice really depends on your targets as others have already pointed out but if I was limited to one pair - they would be the 24 Pans with compensators and Barcon.
