It's the one in the middle, with the refractor on it.
Looks sort of like a cosmetically changed CGE Pro.

Like the other recent Synta mounts (HEQ5, EQ-6), it's probably Tak-inspired. Has kind of an EM-400 look to it.

Actually - looking at some photos from the exhibition, it definitely looks more directly evolved from the CGE-Pro.

Displayed for me, and I don't have a log-in there. Maybe a UK thing.

Anyway, looks like a seriously serious mount!

Yeah, worked fine for me too. Looks like serious hardware. Now it's pretty easy to cast/machine big pieces of metal but to do it accurately is pretty hard. I hope they got it right.

At the same time the predicted Summer '11 release date makes it close to vapor ware. I'm sure many of you here saw the big EQ from iOptron at NEAF in '09 and you still can't get it. Let's hope Skywatcher/Synta can put some production capacity behind this project and get some beta units in testers hands soon. Sure would be sweet if the motor board had the same protocol as the EQ6 so EQMOD could work with it. I'm dreaming now.

Cool! Now I'm wondering what the Orion version will look like.

I doubt they'll have much problem getting on the streets, as it doesn't look much different from Synta's other big mount, the CGE Pro.

Very interesting! And not only that mount: the new five-element 120ED and the 150ED, as well as the 100mm Petzval design, could be a serious challenge to the rest of the market.

I had it coming, Nocturnal.

Personally, I really like the white mounts from Skywatcher, but with those LEDs reflecting off the white in a dark site...I dunno.

Apparently Robtics (a big dutch dealership) in Holland already had their hands on one and have discussed some changes already with Synta's mount dept. I have this info from a small notice from this dealer on the dutch version of Astromart.

Do any of the Tak mounts have external motors?

I think the CGE, CGE Pro and this one look like a departure from the Atlas/CGEM path (which I agree are Tak knock-offs, complete with the EM-200 style internal motors).

Regards,

Jim

I hope it is not CGEPro inspired. I have had terrible luck with my club's mount so far.
