Where to get Unitron parts?
      #4094497 - 10/05/10 01:29 PM

I have a Unitron 114 that I am going to sell, but when I bought it there were a few parts missing and I would prefer to sell it to someone complete. Is there a source for parts or is it pretty much find what you can via this group? I would need the following:

1 knob/nut to attach the cradle to the mount
2 spreader brackets for the tripod
1 spreader
3 leg tips

The scope is otherwise complete and in good shape. Any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jim

Contact Unitron store http://www.unitronusa.com/uniframe.htm.
I called last year they had a few odds and ends. No OTAs or lens cells or mounts..who knows.

Let us know what they say!

Early Unitrons used stainless wingnuts to mout the cradle to the tripod.

As well, early Unitron tripods did not have a spreader assembly, it was added later.

Legs tips, you might find rubber tips that will work again at a hardware store.

I own a 114, I have not been successful at getting any parts from anyone or anywhere at any price.

You can get the plastic nuts from some on line source, Ask Awesomelenny he will remember where, The leg tips can be made by any decent sheet metal shop they use small brass wood screws to hold them on. As far as parts like rings and tube weights. Unibalances, Diagonals, Eyepieces, Unihexes, I have boatloads of stuff that is for sale at anyprice!!
