Here are my sketches from last night. All except M42 were first time observations for me.

G1, the brightest globular cluster in the Andromeda Galaxy.

I can see why they call this one the Pacman Nebula.

The Bubble Nebula, I found this one to be surprisingly faint.

I finished the night with my first look at the Orion Nebula this year.

These are all very ,very fine sketches. Were you using any filters for the middle three sketches?

Frank

TE,

Thank you for the excellent collection of deep sky observations. You have recorded all of them very nicely. The core and extensions of the Orion Nebula (M42) are prominent. I look forward to your future observations.

Carlos

Very good work. Tried the bubble and pacman myself with a 12" but never saw the same amount of detail. What is the NELM of your observing place?

Thank you for your comments.

I was using a Lumicon UHC filter for every observation except G1. NGC 7635 and 281 were practically invisible without it.

I did all of these observations from my home, it's a 6 on the bortle scale, and a red zone on the light pollution atlas. I don't check NELM.

Nice sketches! I'm particularly impressed by your observation of G1 - were you able to see it and the two faint stars flanking it with direct vision?

Howard

G1 and the nearby stars just looked like one faint smudge with direct vision. I could only see three distinct objects with averted vision and in moments of good seeing.
