Has anyone here tried using a Questar OTA on a Half or Quarter/Hitch Mount with the Digital Setting Circles ?
If so, what are your thoughts ?
Thanks.

Mike, I haven't used a Q with the mount but I see it takes a mounting plate and has a proper balancing system. It would work very well with my Quantum 4. It also appears to be of very high quality. As with anything of value, it costs a lot. But experience is what you're looking for. Don't have that. Dave

Hi Dave,
Quality does cost, but I feel a "lack of it" costs even more in the long run. I kind of look at things this way; give up a pack or so a day of smoke's, or drinking beer, or some other things people do, and it puts several thousand dollars in your pocket before you know it. So, everything is a compromise in life anyway. You "can" live a Rolex lifestyle on a volkswagon budget with carefull planning. Ahhh, I'm digressing here, back on topic.....
I have an appreciation for machinework and optical precision that is at the zenith of quality.
In addition to the Q's fork mount, the Half/Hitch would seem an ideal accessory for use with DSC's and a compact computer. I would very much like to have this type of grab & go setup available.

I have wasted far more money trying to save a buck than I ever would have spent getting the quality stuff first. Spend once if at all possible.
Mike - you might also consider a Discmount - topnotch stuff there.

Hi Chris,
The DM-6 is a nice mount, but the Half/Hitch centers the scope over the tripod, which I like better.
I have been researching this mount and the direction of its development for awhile now. Last August I almost ordered a new Quarter/Hitch, but at the last minute decided to look for a discontinued Half/Hitch Mount, which has several features that I like.
Fortunately, I was reciently able to purchase one.
As I understand, presently there are only a couple hundred or so (of all models) out there.
I'm still looking to acquire a Mint 3.5" Questar, when I return to California in November.
