A Spaceman in the sky - My take on it... new

I have a very small and narrow patch of sky I can see from home, in a real red zone.

I saw this visitor from space (and from my childhood). I hope you all enjoy!

OBJECT: NGC 457

TIME: 11 pm
PLACE: St-Hyacinthe
INSTRUMENT : Celestron Nexstar 8SE
EYEPIECE: Pentax 10mm (200X)
TRANSPARENCY: average
SEING: Below average

(Note: I have rotated it 90 degrees on the right...)

I think that we should call this the "E.T. Asterism." I am expecting it to say "Phone Home." Thank you for sharing it with us all.

Very nice sketch! I like the accuracy in the positions of the stars!

Wow! I am glad you are saying this because I did really try to apply myself this time to be as accurate as possible.

Thanks for the comment!

Great, accurate sketch, FrenchStar! I finally saw the E.T. cluster for the first time a few weeks back, and now I check it out every time I observe. It's fast becoming one of my favorites.

FrenchStar,

Nice sketch of NGC 457. It does take some time to get all the stars well placed but it is worth the effort as you have clearly demonstrated.

Frank

FrenchStar,

Very nice sketch of the ET Cluster. It really does look like ET. I've got to remember to show it to my daughter. It's appropriate that another stick-figure being is in the same starry neighborhood: Stock 2, The Muscleman Cluster, near the Double Cluster.

Mike

Thanks for the comment... and for the tip! I will put it on my list.
