experiences of binos on fast newts new
      #4107237 - 10/11/10 10:36 AM

I'd be interested in hearing the experiences of owners of DenkII and the other top-end binoviewers with 2" OCS units (eg MkV with Baader 1.7x Newt corrector).

How do they perform *in practise* at the eyepiece on fast Newts, say f/4.3, f/4, f/3.6 ??

The theory and recommended thresholds are fairly clear, but what do you get in practise ? Going to faster mirrors, is there a point where the experience at the eyepiece becomes dissapointing ??

No problem at f/4!

I've been using the Denkmeier BV with its Power X Switch and .85 reducer for several years and am quite impressed with its optical excellence. I use all this on my 28 inch f/4 Newtonian and 8 inch f/4 Newtonian with equal enjoyment with only two sets of eyepieces (24 Pans and 10 Radians).

On my big scope that gives me a range of magnification of 100x to 710x and I see excellent images at all powers. The OCS does a great job correcting coma as I see none at low power. The high power views are quite sharp, but the higher I go the more I tend to have difficulty focusing each eyepiece to perfection. Once I do, the combined image is terrific.

Howard
