I had a sheet of hypered Fuji Acros left over from last month, so last night I shot M33 on it: http://www.rickthurmond.com/M33Acros.jpg I did this one with no filters, just intending to have a black and white. It came out so well, I might try to combine it with my previous tri-color version. http://www.rickthurmond.com/M33RGB4.jpg Seems like the new one is deeper than the previous one, which was shot entirely on hypered Tech Pan with red, green, and blue filters. Maybe I need to try a LRGB version. I'm very impressed with the capabilities of hypered Acros. For the blue end of the spectrum, I think it surpasses hypered Techpan. The new exposure was 1 hour 45 minutes at about f/7, developed in Tmax developer to EI 200. Telescope was my C14. Rick

That came out very well. It would be interesting to see them combined. Keep up the good work.

Rick,
That should be an interesting experiment. I don't think I've ever seen an LRGB film shot.

Very impressive Rick. Glad to see the Acros working so well for you. Both images are remarkable.

Thanks, all. It was an opportunistic shot. I saw a clear night coming, had a piece of film from last month, and thought "what can I do with it?". Not much else is up right now that I can reach with my telescope. M45 and M32 are too big. I'm hoping for a shot like that in the next few months where I can try out the Ektar 4x5. M42 would be good for that. In this part of California it rains from now until May, so I'll take what I can get. I'm getting my previous bubble nebula shots drum scanned, so maybe I'll have a project to work on one of these cloudy nights. Rick

Rick, very nice image. Viewing your image I says to myself I have to shoot more photos thru my telescope.
Rick, what is the size of the piece of film of images you are presenting here? I've noticed your telescope draws a circular image in the thread on the Veil nebula.

Thanks, Michal, The film is 4x5 inch (10x12.5cm). The image is 6.5 cm diameter, though at the edges it fades away and the stars get unfocused. The way the image is cropped, you are looking at about 4 cm in the long dimension. The mirror of my guider creates a shadow along the top edge. When composing, I take this edge into account, knowing it will define the top or side of an image. Rick
