The sketch, a description of the process, and a lesson can be reached via the link on the Inspiration Page on the .org site (address below my signature). The sketch story is at the upper left column.

It may seem silly, but I have grown accustomed to using black or color paper. This sketch was pencil on white...and I have a much tougher time with it. It was still a very good evening to give thanks.

Rowland,

Your sketch of Crater Schiller looks super.
As you well know sketching white on black paper seems natural when you get used to it.
When you try to return to graphite on white paper it seems a little awkward for a while.
At least that is how it is for me.

Frank

Thank you very much, Frank. It was sure a sweat to get through, so I continue to use white on black this month so it is more second nature. I have to have it more natural by the time I hit the ground in the Philippines.

Roland,

Nice sketch of Crater Schiller--one of the best features on the Moon to sketch (or image).

You were absolutely right to give up on drawing a three dimensional object and just concentrate on the lights and darks and shades of gray. Then when you step back, you can see what you were really looking at.
