power inverter for desktop computer?
      #42219 - 01/17/04 01:54 PM

Hi All,
I'd like to use a computer with my telescope rig for goto and imaging. I've looked at laptops but I really don't want to spend mucho bucks on them...i'm not considerirng refurbs or really outdated lappies. I figure I can build a relatively small form factor computer thats pretty modern for a few hundred dollars or less plus i've got a spare 15" tft laying around that would be perfect. Here's the question: Assuming 180w to 350w ps what would I need as far as a power inverter to run the system? In addition i'd like to use the equivalent to say the Orion or Celestron battery pack or Kendrick battery pack for dc source.

Best Regards,
Ricky

If you are going to build one just for field work go for low power components and don't load it up with things like sound cards. Should work then.
