I am the new owner of a 1977 fast focus model with a 24 mm Brandon EFL.I'm sure that the Brandon is a wonderful eyepiece but I thought I read in this forum that there are better ones for terrestial viewing. My goals are wider field of view and decent eye relief.I think the 22 to 26 mm range would be fine as the 50x to 75x power sounds about right for my needs.Any suggestions as to eyepieces and adapters would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks, Jim

Suggest you call Company7 and get a recommendation on third party EPs for the Birder. Please review this info from them:

Vernonscope is the maker of Brandons and they also sell a Birder scope. You should contact them about other Brandons.
Luck, Bill

Jim, the Panoptics are THE eyepieces for birding. There is nothing better. The eye relief is about the same as the 24mm Brandon, but the Panoptics are the only other eyepieces that work with the finder. The 24mm Panoptic has a wider field of view than the 32mm Brandon, so wide, in fact, that the scope vignettes, taking a few degrees off the 65 native to the eyepiece. But this actually translates into a little more eye relief.
If eye relief is more important than the finder, the Vixen LVW eyepieces are superb in every way. More than one individual has remarked that they are the easiest eyepieces to use. Positioning of the eye seems effortless.
