Can not find a website, so what's the skinny on the Telescope Ranch? Is it that guy out Wickenburg way that used to sell used scopes on Astromart? It would be nice if they had small accessories and such.

Telescope Ranch is owned by Brian DeWells out of Wickenburg. Currently it's a lot of used gear, some cool stuff is in there and new stuff is always coming in. There isn't a website yet, only a face book page: Telescope Ranch

I went out to Wickenburg; the weather was actually good until I got out there, then it was cloudy. I first looked for Telescope Ranch and it took me a little while to find it (it's not next to the roundabout like the little map on the link shows, but a couple of blocks away in a little place called Mecca Plaza, I think). The store was closed when I located it, finally, but it'll be worth prowling around next time. I then had dinner, and by the time I was done, it was windy and cloudy. I drove to the end of the pavement to find the star party (no surprise) had been canceled, but I watched the clouds for a while. I guess when I was eating, I missed out on the thunder and lightning action.

The next Wickenburg Public Star Party will be October 22.

The current long range forecast from NOAA is continuing dry weather, cooling slightly. Day temps have been in the High 90s and Lows in the low 70s. Look for a midmorning report on Saturday, Oct. 22.

There is the outside chance that an 8" F12 D&G 'fractor may make an appearance.

Clear, Dark, and Steady..

Hi Kevin,
We picked it and the 1200 and the LX200 up yesterday. John has lots of work to do on the 1200. He's going to try to get the 8" out to the All Arizona Star Party for one night too.

Clear, Dark, and Steady.

My 127mm surplus shed refractor won't be ready in time so I guess the usual gear will be there.

Wish I could be there but my wife and I will be spending the weekend in a remote Forest Service cabin to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary. Probably have some pretty dark skies, but she wouldn't be amused if I spent the evening observing

Hi Scott,
That's an excellent reason! Considering the significance of the anniversary, we might question your sanity if you showed up. Hopefully we'll see you next month!

Clear, Dark, and Steady,

Well it's not like you're girl watching....

We tend to break camp rather early (not by my standards mind you ) and Wickenburg is a nice romantic western get a way.

I think I've lost a lot of credebility with her already.

So far the weather seems to be cooperating - this time. Just to be safe, I'm traveling light with only one scope.

Looking good for heading out there! I'm actually going to leave about 8:30 in the morning, as there's a classic car show in Glendale that was in the paper today, so I got to check that out. After the cars, I'll just go from there to Wickenburg.
