Chris,

I read this when you put it in the eyepiece forum and so far I have to say this is the best review I have read. Very well written, you have created a standard that all reviews should be compared to. I really have to say you and David Knisely write the best reviews.

Keep up the good work, I can't wait to see the review on the 26MM Ethos when it comes out.

Well-thanks, but I've only written one so far. But I guess that does make it the best review I've ever written!

Thanks for the informative review. I just ordered the 3.7 Ethos last week.

I really think the intended market for this particular Ethos is the fast refractor segment that is becoming quite prevalent today. I intend to use it in my f/6 scopes, so exit pupil considerations are not an issue. Also, because of a vision issue, I tend to use much more magnification than most observers would tolerate when wanting to view small planetary details or split tight doubles.

I really have 2 objects in mind with this eyepiece. The Moon will still fit in an entire field of view in my 130 f/6, and I'm looking forward to using the same scope to view M42 with it.

It will also be a great addition to my Pronto/Half-Hitch combo, since I avoid using high power eyepieces with this setup due to the fact that it is an undriven mount. The extra field of the 3.7 Ethos will make high power observing with this setup more practical. I wish I had though to buy it before my observing trip to the Everglades last month.

I agree with the folks above. Outstanding review. I also wanted to let everyone know you can get 5% off on it from OpticsPlanet (the lowest price I found it for) $570 with free shipping. Use code amiv5of. I just paid 540.50 for it and can't wait to get it and use it on my APO triplet.

Excellent, well balanced review. Just purchased a Stellarvue SV110ED and was in need of some additional EPs. Your review was a great help.

Dave

I liked it so much, I went out and got its brother, the 4.7 as well (and the 4.7 on Jupiter, WoW, just WoW!)

That is a nicely comprehensive but somewhat long-winded review. NEVERTHELESS the piece was quite interesting and caused this reader to consider an eyepiece and focal length that I'd previously thought impractical.

I concur....nice job!
