I weighed my setup the other day at 29.5 lbs. I thought I was closer to 23 lbs. It seems like I get ok results with 5 minute subs with good balance using a tripod. I'm moving to a permanent pier in 1 week (I hope) and wondering if I should expect better performance or maybe think about trading up?

Hi Jeff,
That's not loading it up compared to some rigs I've seen, you should be fine...especially on a pier. I recently upgraded my Atlas with a new counterweight bar from Criterion. It's solid steel and longer than the stock bar; I can use less weight to balance my kit. You might want to consider it as an option.

I reckon that's a bit much.
I think the mount will wear quite fast &
require more tuning of the internal plates which adjust backlash.
I can't be 100% sure but I just had mine adjusted after
having to use 15Kgs to balance it for only
about 15 to 20 nights out.
I won't use Antares tube rings anymore because of that
& I should achieve balance with maybe 10 Kgs.
