Does anyone know if the Orion Atlas/Sirius 11 lb counterweight (#09863) will fit on the CG5? I need another counterweight for my CG5 mount and the Orion counterweight is on sale right now.

No. The Atlas uses an 18mm C/W shaft while the CG-5/Vixen GP uses a 20mm shaft.
I am using 2 Atlas weights on my Vixen but I had to have someone bore them out with a big honking drill bit.

OK, thanks. Guess I will have to go with the Celestron CG5 weight.

The Orion Skyview Pro counterweights (#07384) are on sale also and fit the CG5. Why not order those?

Thanks Dave. Unfortunately, it looks like the Skyview Pro counterweights are only 7.5lb and I need a little more weight than that.

I'm using the Atlas and CG5 counterweights on my Atlas. One of them has a plastic sleeve, I think thats the Atlas one. The sleeve pops out easily.
Here are some diameters I measured today: CG5 shaft is .780, Atlas is .710. CG5 weights have a .815 opening, Atlas has .800 if the sleeve is popped out, .715 with the sleeve.

That's correct Jeff
All Synta CWs are bored to suit the 20mm shaft which is the shaft size for CG5/EQ5/EQ3. Those sold to suit the 18mm shaft as fitted to EQ6/HEQ5 (Atlas/Sirius) simply have a plastic sleeve fitted which is easily removed.

Thanks guys. I ended up ordering the CG5 counterweight. I found one at a reasonable price with free shipping. It was only $1.64 more than the price for the Orion weight after figuring in the shipping.

I always put my finger inside the counterweight hole when when I loosen the knob to dismount or mount it so that sleeve doesn't come out. I think all the Synta weights have the same potential problem.

It fits with the plastic spacer out. Just put one on my CG5.
