Just discovered the new format for NSN- I registered per their instructions, and when I try to log in, it just returns me to the home page. what's up?

Hey Jim, the new look to the website is great!
Very professional.
I also like the security feature of having to register to view too.
Good work, mate

I kind of liked not having to log in. Any chance the site now works on my iPhone/iPad?

As proficient as the iOS browser is I'd think your iPhone/iPad would have no difficulty logging in or taking advantage of the site's features. I'm not sure if Flash is supported or not.

I like the idea of having to log in. During the last lunar eclipse I decided to watch it on NSN. Some of the comments by some viewers made me think I was on a porn site. Hopefully, having to register will slow down this type of activity.

Talk to Steve Jobs or who ever at Apple has the anti FLASH thing going on. He did state Apple would never work with Adobe Falsh.
NSN is what it is. If your phone works with it fine if not sorry.

I often watch multiple channels at the same time (looks great on my 23" 1920x1080 monitor. It's nice that you only have to log in the first time.

Totally agree.
The log-in process may make us lose a few viewers, but it's better protection all round. If they can't be bothered logging in, then they really didn't want to be in there very much. Those that are keen won't mind.
I will find it nice to broadcast with less idiots commenting

Well said Ken - I'd gone off NSN for a month or so because of the 'detractors' but will tune in again soon.
As I'm unfamiliar with the names of some broadcasters it would be nice to know, against current live b-casters, their typical b-cast material I'm a DSO guy myself and less interested in solar system videoing so even their longitude gives a clue

We've had pretty ragged weather here for the last month or so, so I haven't been broadcasting. I did check out the new splash page, it looks nice. Hopefully the weather will break somewhat in the next few weeks.

Same here Jim, with floods, thunderstorms, etc. I have managed to broadcast only twice in the last 2 - 3 months! But it'll get better

I've been noticing that there are fewer broadcasts, hope it's just bad timing on my part.

I like the log in restriction also, but I would think that would only be if you wanted to "talk" not to view. Open viewing may bring more to the hobby. The new software is working well and has a very nice look, But by loging in it does give a better indication of how many are using the site.

The Log-in feature doesn't seem to be slowing down the viewers.
My viewer numbers are increasing all the time, but that could be because the site is getting more widely known too.
Bob raises an interesting point.
It could increase interest if those 'viewing only' didn't have to register.
A bit like Forums where anyone can go in and read, but you have to register to post

I regularly send people to NSN to encourage interest in astronomy and our video version. Impeding access to casual visitors will certainly make it less likely that they will get to the site. How much less likely? Who knows?

actually, the second window for chat causes a second issue, which is since the iOS browser does not support flash there is an alternate called Skyfire that does. I've tried it and it will not work because there is interaction, meaning the chat window, that pops up.
Hmmmm I take it back, I just tried it again and it show's video on my iPhone. Now the issue is I can't zoom in at all.
So, I guess the solution now is if the default was a full screen view of the video (or as close to it as possible), and those watching on the computer could minimize the video if they wish to chat?
Skyfire + iPad... now we just need the default changed... PS video works but not sound so far.
