The latest issue of SKY NEWS arrived yesterday with a review by Alan Dyer of an 8" Edge SCT on a CGEM mount. Both get high marks and Alan really likes the mount and is keeping his unit for personal use. I know some of the magazines get low marks for "soft reviews" but if you are looking for reviews of this mount here is a good one.

I read the review and agree with Alan's assessment. I love my CGEM. It sets up easy, tracks well, and turns out some really pleasant images using my 11" Edge HD.
I would recommend the mount to anyone who asked about it.

Very happy with mine. Easy setup, great hand controller, accurate GoTo's & tracking, and very little vibration with my C11 on board.

I tend to agree with everyones assessment of the CGEM although I've only had mine out a few times. My biggest complaint is with the manual that came with it is not well written and tough to follow. It also gives some proceedures that dont work on my mount when trying to get to the all star polar alignment function. Maybe I need to update my firmware but you would think for the price they would give you a manual that applies to the device you bought.
It would be like buying a 2011 car and they supply a manual for the 2009 model.

Again you seem to hear about a lot of issues, with the CGEM. A lot of it, I still believe comes from issues with the power source, either connection or low voltage. I've had mine almost a year went out last night did two star align with one calibration, polar align and every object right in the center of the eyepiece and tracked great after that, I have never done anything to my mount, other than slight abuse , so as others have said, if you have a good one, you have a very good mount.

I think of the CGEM as an 80's Chrysler, if you got a good one it's perfect, if you get a bad one watch out. Hmmm I wonder if all the bad ones are made on Monday morning after the May Day party?
