When interveening obstacles, such as buildings, force you to choose BOTH alignment & calibration stars on the same side of the Meridian, contrary to the manual, what effect does this have on goto accuracy for objects on that same side of Meridian? (e.g. Gotos to western objects when both alignment and calibration stars are also in the west)
(Note: I have also posted this question on the Celestron_AS Yahoo group)

I believe calibration stars are designed to compensate any possible mis-orthogonality your scope (OTA) to mount might have. It does not do any good to add calibration stars at same side of Meridian as alignment stars.

It might help your gotos on that side of the meridian, but if you attempt a goto on the other side, chances are that you'll be off the mark.

Well, if the obstacles are so great that you can't use ANY stars for calibration, then I guess you won't be missing any objects to observe there either.
