I just got a 8200 CubePro mount. The payload is supposed to be 12 pounds.

My question is does the 12 pounds include the counter weight or is it in addition to the counter weight?

I think it should be in addition to the counter weight but I haven't been able to confirm that.

If it includes the counter weight and the counter weight is 7 pounds then the scope could only be 5 pounds. Which does not make much sense.

The mount will support 12# for ota and accessories. I also have a cube pro and it works well with a TV 85 HTH Pete

I believe it is standard operating procedure for mount manufacturers to state the mounts weight carrying capacity as being in addition to any counterweights.

Vixen includes counterweights in the payload.

At least on this page, that doesn't seem to be the case: http://www.company7.com/vixen/mounts/gpegem.html

The mount spec is 15 lb (7 kg) and Company 7 recommends a scope of this weight to ride the mount.
