I'm envious. Stars are really popping, very transparent and dark tonight. Should be some fantastic viewing. Orion Nebula area visible without any dark adaptation. I live vicariously through you for the next several nights, boys.

Raining here in sunny So Calif. In fact it may snow tonight in SF and LA, first time since 1967 or so.

Supposed to snow in SF, well possible. Doubtful, but no viewing. But too cold for us soft CA types.

Stupid low hanging haze clouds here in Nashvegas.
I know more about cloud formation trajectories within the Tennessee valley right now than is probably normal.

Pleased you managed to get out Tony, enjoy.
Complete cloud cover again here in Yorkshire. Half a chance forecast for tonight but I'm not too hopeful. Raining as I type.
Regards. Peter.

Yup, same here in South Yorkshire. Peter's clouds are rather large you see and stretch from Leeds all the way here.
That said, a large bright object is currntly observable between the clouds - any idea what it could be??

Tonight looks good John. It's 65F now headed for 78F then back into the 60's tonight with clear skies. Golf tournament this morning then a little rest before dragging the stuff out. Grandpa said that moving to the colonies would work out.

Who? Me?
Naw, I've been too busy measuring amount of snowfall that we've been having.
This Feb. for my area, has set a record for most snowfall for the month of Feb. I've measured 29".6 and counting...
29".6 may not seem a lot, but considering that we get 50".0 of snowfall for the season, well, that's 60% of total snowfall...
I've seen more snowflakes this month than what my 8SE can see stars??? I haven't done the calculation...Yet.
Hang On Gang, March is supposed to be the transition month. And if it follows February's recipe. A lot more of wacky weather will be upon us (hoping not).
Pete
ps, Actually, last week I went to my club's site. 4 months and 4 days ago, but who's counting. It was 18F with light haze, and frost set upon everything within 45 minutes. Thank GOD, that I had my mini hairdryer to combat the dew/frost on the corrector. Forgot to bring the Dew Shield with me. Maybe I should write a list of things to bring along with me to an observing session.

Clouds and more clouds here in Northern Ontario. Sunny during the day, clouds at night. Missed comet Hartley (saw it once), the entire winter season and Orion due to bad weather. I was only out twice this winter. After 9:30 Orion is behind some tall trees and it's not truly dark till 7pm now. Although, last Tuesday (feb 22) was a 4/5 night for seeing and transparency and no clouds and no moon! Milky Way visible in my orange zone. Did some imaging of the Flame Nebula and M31.
Lets see what happen for the galaxy season.

Looks like I will be out after all. The skies are almost clear, (some patchy cloud) and its forecast to remain that way. I have the dome open and my observing schedule drawn up. Another hour or so to darkness. Hope others have the same fortune. Wish me luck.
Regards. Peter.
