Got up to take the recycling cart out and saw clear skies. Did really have time to get the scope out and wait for it to acclimated. So binos it was. . Saw Jupiter and M42. Now off to work.

Well.. Got the scope out this time. I don't think I did too bad for my first captures of Jupiter. My settings were still set for Saturn. After I started working with the videos in Registax, they were slightly over exposed. Oh well, the season is still early. I'll work on my Jupiter technique.

Ben - WTG! It captured the various belts in good detail!

Thanks Tony. I am still working on some of the other videos I captured. I am going to attempt to run it through PS to see if I can adjust the contrast and brightness some more.

I did some processing.. I think it looks a little better..

Hi Ben, That looks good! I really enjoy looking at these images. It is amazing what can be done these days in astro imaging/photograghy compared to 30 - 40 years ago!! Thanks for posting....

Great image Ben. Nice to see Jupiter again. The cloud belts look very good.
Jupiter should be in my skies around December time.

Thanks for posting.

Regards. Peter.

Thanks, Peter.

I got up and thought about doing another imaging session, but decided to be simple. It was visual observing only. Seeing wasn't great, but enough that my 13mm eyepiece worked well for Jupiter. Played around with different stuff I had. Some color filters, UHC filter. I even played around with an Orion x0.5 focal reducer I got for Planetary AP. It doesn't do *BLEEP* in the diagonal, but when put on the eyepiece, it worked really well. So when the moon comes out and I have clear skies, I might play around with it on my Neximage camera to see what I can do. I am just glad that temps are dropping and skies have cleared up for me. This summer was terrible for being an astronomer.
