DSO Photos Through June 15th

Welcome to the Cloudy Nights Reader’s Gallery Submission Forum. Each month, we ask Cloudy Nights members to submit their best DSO photos in this thread.


For your photo entries, please provide a description that includes:
Your First and Last Name;
Date of photo (can include the time);
Description (title) of the image;
Relevant photo information (exposure length and equipment used).

This is important! If you don't supply ALL information, we won't be able to use your photograph!!!!

Please note: due to copyright issues, all photos MUST be original (If they aren't then you will be banned from this section of the forum!).

To facilitate the judging we respectfully ask that you not enter comments in the photo thread. You will find a commentary thread for the DSO photo entries. Thanks and good luck!

90 minutes of exposure (3 x 10 minutes and 3 x 20 minutes), taken with an SXV-H9 through a TV76 and a TV reducer using an Astronomik 13nm Ha filter. Guided with an SXV guide head through a Vixen VC200L at f6.4.

Taken on 04/03/2005 in my backyard in Hilliard, OH

Scope: Celestron Ultima 2000, Meade 3.3 reducer, Hutech IDAS LPR Filter
Camera: SBIG ST7E
Exposure: 18x300s, 1x1 binning, autoguided with the ST7E
Processing Details:
Images aquired with CCDSoft V5
Dark and Flat calibrated each frame, adaptive add combined in Images Plus.
Curves and levels adjustment in Photoshop 6.0
Final processing in Neat Image.
Exported to JPG with IrfanView.

Date: 14th June 2005.
Equipment: 10in LX200 @ F6.3. Meade DSI.
Details: 30x15 second exposures automatically made into a composite image by the Autostar software.
