When I am using a scope visually I find myself constantly bumping the high speed slew button to star hop, the slow speed is agonizingly slow. The constant bumping of the switch can't be too healthy for the mount??? Is there a mod to install a better way to select speed? I had heard lots of gripes about the max slew speed, but I didn't relaize it was "all or nothing!"
I should mention that I often don't have a computer hooked up to the mount.

I don't think the NJP supports variable slew rates other than slew ("fast") & guide ("slow") rates. If you're running the mount with 24 volts, you can reduce the "fast" slew rate by running it with 12 volts.

Not sure why I didn't think of that! My power supply has a selectable voltage output. I will give it a shot. Won't totally solve the problem, but will probably help.

I don't have an NJP but my EM-400 doesn't 'bump'. It speeds up and slows down. If the mount can't stand that it has no business being a mount. Sounds stupid but you know what I mean. Use your mount as it's intended (under the stars and star hopping) and relax. Send Takahashi a nastygram if it breaks

Sander, mine does the same thing as far as the ramp up/down, but it gets to full speed pretty fast. I did turn the power supply down to 12v, and this helps, but makes long slews painful, as much as I like the NJP, I think a Paramount MX is in the future
