Howdy all;
While going through some old boxes I found a set of drawings I did years ago. I just picked this as a demo. The sketch was made with a 13 inch f/5.6 Newtonian at 220X with no filters. I need to keep looking, I think I made a set of them showing changes in the nebula over several years of observing, but I have not found those drawings yet.
The observing site was 100 miles from Phoenix, Arizona. I rated the seeing at 7 out of 10 and the transparency at 8 out of 10, a very good evening.
Enjoy; Steve Coe

Cool. Sketching is a great way to share our observations and the joy we felt. You bring that out nicely. Hey, if you find those additional drawings, can you do a time lapse avi?
Nice, job, Steve.

Hi Steve,
Nice sketch--thanks for the blast from the past. It's always fun to go back and see an old visual record of an observation--and a good way to jog one's memory, too.
Brandon Doyle posted this sketch of NGC 2261 a little while back. Did you see it?

Steve,
That's a great sketch. NGC2261 is this month's observers challenge object for the Las Vagas Astronomy Club. I wish you would submitt it for inclusion in the monthly report. I'm sure they would appreciate your participation. You can go to there webb site www.lvastronomy.com or if you PM me I can give you the contact info.

Steve,
This is a very fine graphite rendering of the variable nebula, do you remember the year of this drawing?

Steve,
Thank you for sharing your excellent observation of Hubble's Variable Nebula (NGC 2261) from the past. This is an interesting object composed of gas and fine dust blowing away from R Monocerotis.
