This evening I could observe the moon again. Three days after new monn Langrenoius stood well illuminated. I had not much time between end of twilight to the moon set. The last details I added whil the moon was lower than 10 degrees.
I used my 6 inch Mak at 120x.

That's a really clean crisp sketch with excellent height created there.
Is it pencil? water color pencil? or charcoal?

Uwe,
Beautifully done. I know that race to get a sketch done as the moon is trying to set. You did a fantastic job and picked a great target. Superb post.

Uwe,
An excellent observation of the crater Langrenius. You have recorded the central peak and shadows very nicely. Thank you for sharing it with us all.

Dear Deirdre, Frank, Carlo & Norme, thank you for your comments.
Dee: I always sketch with pencils. I use serveral degrees: Quite hard for the outlines and higlights, normal for the general floor and dark details and very soft for the deep shadows. Beside this I use a rubber pencil to add small highlights in the floor.

Uwe,
Very nice sketch. Giant Crater Langrenus (79mi./132km) is a real eye grabber on the crescent Moon. No doubt it caught your eye and said, "Sketch me!"
