What are the differences? From pics I am thinking that the mount heads are identical but the tripods are different. Is this correct?

Yup, that's right. For Gibraltar, Panoramic and Telepod, the head remains the same. Only the tripod height, robustness and capacity increases. The Gibraltar 5, however, features a larger head.

If you can find an older Gibraltar it has a different head, larger alt bearing and a lower center of gravity for the scope. When sold, the head was an upgrade from the Telepod head.

all scopes are long gone! Went through mid-life crisis, personal financial difficulties, and took a break from the hobby about a year ago. Looking to get back into it, at a moderate pace.

Yikes Rob that's sad! You're not the only one I know had to back out of the hobby and sell off gear though. Glad to see you're getting back into it.

The "man" would get my AP 130 GT when he pried it from my cold dead fingers! It would be the LAST scope to go, surviving on a simple alt/az mount with one zoom eyepiece if need be.
I will say this though. I had alot of fun the past two nights with just my C80SS mounted on an EQ2 with just the baader zoom...ya don't need much to enjoy this hobby! Really, just clear skies!
So Rob, what is your future plan? Always fun to spend someone elses money and dream abit. We'll help ya! What do you plan to mount on a telepod or gibraltar?
