alt az mount viewing zenit new
      #4432703 - 03/07/11 03:48 PM

I am presently constructing an alt az mount for a large binocular telescope. Since the center of gravity should be close to the middle of the stand, I will miss approximately 5-7 degree around the zenit. Is that a serious problem? What do you think?

Thomas

Not really a problem.

Probably not, and besides if the object that you want to see is at Zenith, wait a while, it will move.

Assuming your binocular telescope eps have 45-90 degree viewing capability, I would definitely want to be able to point to the zenith for best views.
