I have posted a new story and sketch on our site (first link under my signature) that comes from a January observing period of M43. Using astro video to help see the detail, my c8 did very nicely. One must keep M42 out of the field to prevent an oversaturated view that can mask M43. Once M43 is held in the field of view, however, its details are striking. It is one of many of my favorite objects because of the shape and structure that I can see.
To see the story/sketch, hit the Inspiration button on the home page. The Inspiration page has two columns. The M43 story and sketch is summarized at the top left. Punch the [whole story] link at the end of the summary to see the full sketch and story.

Roland,
An excellent observation of this often overlooked member of the Orion Nebula complex. You have recorded fine detail over the nebula, including the dark lane. Thank you for sharing it with us all.
