I already have the Garmin GPS receiver that Losmandy uses and want to put the
RJ-11 and RJ-45 on myself. Does anyone have a picture of one that they can
share? The ones I find on the web do not get close enough to make out in detail
what is needed.

Joe...my photo skills are somewhat lacking, but how about this:
RS-232 plug, with tab facing away (looking at the plug from above with the tab not facing you) there are 4 pins. From left to right, 1) no wire 2) black wire 3) white wire 4) green wire
Feature plug, with tab facing away as above, there are 8 pins. 1) red 8) black
That's it.

Thank You. That is exactly what I need. The resistor looks like Orange, Black, Brown, Gold. Is there anything else and is that correct?

Joe,
The resistor looks to be orange, black, black, gold and orange. I don't see brown on close examinations.
