Hi all,
I've spent a rare clear week here imaging and have noticed that there seems to be an excess of Dec backlash in my mount. I tried to adjust it out by tightening the bind on the worm until it stuck and then backing it off a little so as it runs smoothly. Does not see to have improved it much.
Anyone have experience doing this? Is there a procedure I should follow?

Hello again,
Not really - I've been told that there are 2 allen head screws
that you tighten & that you can use a cigarette paper
in some way to check that there is 1/1000 clearance.
Certainly - the guy who did my mount for me did a good job.

The comments at the end of the blog are also very useful.

Thanks for that Ajay, very interesting.
I also found this digging around for anyone else reading this that's interested...

Some good links Damien.
I forgot to say that you need to check your handset for the value of gain - it needs to be set to X1 - not X 0.25 or X 0.5. Also check that backlash compensation is set to zero. It's somewhere in the menu.

Cheers Alpal I'll check that.
Have been looking at my mount more closely and there doesn't seem to be any play in the DEC or RA axes so I'm starting to think the problem may be more to do with PEC than anything else.
Think I will have to dedicate the next clear night to investigating this.
