Last night I had a strange problem. After doing a 2-star alignment and
calibrating successfully with 4 stars, I had good alignment and pointing
accuracy was excellent.
Clouds came in and covered most of the sky but the west was still quite clear, so I tried to set up some hyperstar imaging over there.
But I couldn't get the mount to point to the west from the east side of the
pier!I could manually slew the mount to point the scope far west, but every time I'd try a goto it would flip back around and try to "bend over backward" to point to western targets from the west side until it reached a safety stop and the little Microsoft Mary voice would say "Go To Aborted."
I'm using a C14edge on a CGE Pro through NexRemote. This has never happened before. Any ideas how to fix this?

Did you check the "favor east/west" settings?
Did you manually slew to a target and then "sync" on the wrong star perhaps?
Were you using external software?
Based on your Microsoft Mary comment, sounds like you were using the external software that may have thought the mount was pointing at something it really wasn't.

Just reread your post. Did you slew the scope with the handbox at some point? This would confuse the Nextremote as they don't talk to each other.

I did try manually slewing to a target in the west (scope on east side of pier) and changing the CGE Pro "Meridian" setting to "favor current" before doing a goto. Same problem. Mount slews around and then fails to find the target because it's so far past the meridian.
The only "external" software was NexRemote, which I've always used to control the scope from the computer.
Another poster suggests resetting to factory defaults and starting over.
We have forest fire smoke here today (and maybe snow tonight through it was 84 yesterday!), so I won't be able to try it out for awhile.

It will ONLY get confused if the locks are loosened. Slewing manually with the HC is perfectly acceptible.

As I understand it there's no problem using the arrow buttons on the physical HC to move the scope while the alignment and all "higher" functions are controlled in NexRemote. As long as we don't touch any other buttons on the HC except the arrow buttons, there's no conflict. I used the scope this way all the time, and have never before had it "forget" which side of the pier is which!
Furthermore, the goto was spot on, just one-sided! It wasn't pointing off into the wrong part of the sky. I can tell when it bends over backward that it is heading for the right object, it just can't physically get there because of the obstruction posed by the axes and pier.
Maybe it's just a software fluke, and I need to reset and try again when the clouds clear.
