Hi,
my name is Catalin Fus and I'm the co-owner of CFF Telescopes, a business which is a partnership between me and the owner of GPU Optical, Mr Pal Gyulai, in order to offer very high quality OTAs, made entirely in EU (this includes the lenses).
Some of you might have heard about GPU Optical from the reviews present here on the website and from threads in ATM section.
Our website is 'under-construction' and soon we will have telescopes available.
This year we will offer the following :
102mm f6.25 triplets - available
127mm f7 aspheric triplets - available end of May
160mm f6.5 aspheric triplets - available end of October/early Nov
All our tubes/adapters are CNC machined, anodized and/or powdercoated, fully flocked, fully baffled for unvignetted 45mm diameter image circle and with 3 choices of focusers -Moonlite 2.5'', Baader SteelTrack 3'', Starlight FT 3.5''.
Please feel free to ask any questions via email (contact tab on the website in my signature).
Thanks for reading

Catalin,
are the quoted prices with the feathertouch 3.5" focuser ?
If not, what are the prices with the three different focuser types?
Thanks

Hi,
for the 102mm price is with 2.5'' Moonlite as standard offer or I can build using a 3'' Baader Steeltrack which will be the same as price. In my humble opinion, more than 3'' is overkill for this type of telescope. I have a user who reported only 4% vignetting in the corners of the full-frame CCD he owns, using the design around 2.5'' Moonlite. As we will not be a manufacturer with big series of telescopes, rather small series of very high quality, I can accept order around any configuration and I might offer 3'' FT for the 102mm, with a small increase in price (around 150E, netto)
For the 127mm AS offer is with 2.5'' Moonlite/3'' Baader Steeltrack also but I can offer it with 3'' or 3.5'' FT for a small difference (150 - 350E).
For the 160mm and bigger sizes, 3.5'' FT will be standard and I will accept orders based on other focusers if a customer needs it mostly for visual and in this case, the price will drop a little (up to 350E netto).
I hope this responds your questions. If you want more details please write me here on in private.
Thank you very much for your interest! Catalin Fus

Hi David,
this February I have built a 140/1200 for a friend here in Poland, in the same tubing as the 160s will be put into, so I can give an approximate weight of 10.5kgs, including rings. In my opinion, there is still room for improvement and I hope I will not cross this weight of 10.5 - 11 kgs. Tube will be shorter, I estimate minimum length around 900mm.
I have uploaded infos on the website for all scopes we plan to make this year and a new focal length is available for the 160mm, 160mm f/8.

Hi,
as I have started to mention in the previous response for David, the website now has been updated and I have organized data in the final form. Pictures and data will be added step by step as we finish scopes. Price estimation and available focuser options have been uploaded for every model.
We have added also a 160mm f/8 focal length and this will be available together with the 160mm f/6.5 AS.
We can take orders for the 102mm and 127mm.
for the 127 f/7 lens you can find review here, on CN
http://www.cloudynights.com/item.php?item_id=1662
mechanically the scope will be totally different and can be put near best scopes available today without any doubt.
for the 102mm , we will have feedback from previous customers on our website soon.
Thanks for your interest Catalin Fus

Hello again,
after a long absence in which I made some design changes and took 2 projects from zero (127mm and 160mm APOs) I'm able to announce that the 127mm f7 ASpheric project is finished! Pictures of the redesigned OTAs and all data for 127mm f7 AS refractor will be available on the website soon.
For the 127s and all bigger scopes that will follow, we will offer a click-stop feature on the dewshield.
Another good news is that prices have gone down as follows:
- 100E less for the 102mm f6.3 (last one available) => now is 2219 Euro with 24% VAT which means 1790 Euro netto export. - 300E less for the 127mm f7 ASpheric => now is 4340 Euro with 24% VAT which means 3500 Euro netto export.
160mm f6.5 ASpheric project is on the right track with first lens/OTA + all data expected to be available by the end of this year.
Thank you for your interest!

Hi,
I'll gladly like to inform you that a Yahoo group/forum was open, for all people who already own a GPU Optical lens based OTA, owners of new CFF Telescopes brand and people who might want to join to address us directly (me and my business partner, Mr Pal Gyulai), diferent questions regarding our work.
Name of group is CFF Refractors.
We have added 'reviews' tab on our website, a page that will post feedback from owners.
As new information regarding refractors, the 160mm f6.5 Aspheric will have available a special designed Field Corrector for larger chips. 64mm clear aperture and full frame correction of all aberrations inherent to the triplet lens design.
Thank You for Your Interest!

Some small updates :
- the 102mm f6.3 are sold out! - the price for the 127mm f7 Aspheric will be lowered a little to 3990 Euro, VAT included for EU buyers. Netto price is 3217 Euro or 4182 USD. Rings and hardcase are included in the price. Price given is for 2.5'' Moonlite focuser, for 3'' FT, price will be a little higher. - the price for the 160mm f6.5 Aspheric has been established at 8560 Euro, VAT included for EU buyers. Netto price is 6900 Euro or 8970 USD. Rings and hardcase are included in the price. Standard focuser option here is 3.5'' Feathertouch. If your option goes for another focuser, like 3'' Feathertouch or 2.5'' Moonlite, price is lower. - we can take special orders for 160mm f8. Price and options are identical to the 160mm f6.5 Aspheric. - our Field Corrector will work with both of these 160mm scopes, with minimal difference in space to the imaging chip(4mm). Connection to the focuser is M72 and to the camera is M72 or M68. - we will start to be present at Fairs and Star-Parties, for the beginning in Europe. I'll give more details when dates and events we'll attend are established.
Thank You!

Is there a general astronomy store in Europe that carries your products? It would be an advantage to those who want to trade in their current scope(s) when buying one of yours.

Mark,
we are in discussions with Robtics, from Netherland. As soon as we'are finishing all details, I'll post here.
We will have also 'trade'in' but only for our products. Maybe we will accept also other items in the trade'in , but they have to be refractors and marketable. We will make a decision about this in the near future.
Thanks,

Well, for now we have the challenge to present ourselves to the market. After we will have a sufficient request for our products, we will develop a dealer network.
You can contact always contact via e-mail if there are special requests regarding a possible order. We will support our customers in the best way possible I guess :-).
Thanks,
