I have uploaded my sketch of M35 here.

To me the cluster seemed assembled around a framework of brighter stars arranged in an elongated triangular asterism. Several members appeared yellow / orange, not depicted in my drawing. The cluster seemed to have an odd void in the centre, very distinctly noticeable as I plotted stars.

I tried for about 30 minutes for NGC2158, but on this night it was out of range of my 4" scope, eyes, and sky conditions.

Ian - that is a very good sketch indeed. I have a image taken with my 6 inch refractor and DSLR, looking at the two
I can see how well you did at the eyepuce.

Very nice Ian.

As all can see with your sketch, it is a worthwhile target and interesting in the way the stars are positioned from our point of view.

Frank

Ian,

An excellent observation of M35. This is one of my favorite open clusters. Thank you for sharing with us all.

Carlos
