Hi Don,
I purchased one and had it set-up inside and it seemed to track just fine with an 8" SCT and 80mm refractor mounted. I have since obtained a new GEM while at NEAF so I am not sure when I will get to test it in the field now.

I have the Orion SkyView AZ. If you are careful to balance the scope or scopes carefully it works ok without slo mo controls. You need to balance so it moves with a finger in either direction. if you do not take time to do that it will have some stiction. I still prefer slo mo controls, but do use the Skyview for public star parties, so I can show higher power views with a bigger scope on one side and widefield low power views of the same object with a smaller scope on the other side.

I have the Skywatcher version, the HDAZ and I concur about the need for careful balancing. But even with a bit of stiction I still find it easy. Not finding I miss the slow motion controls too much.

is there any altazimuth mounts that you would recommend with slow motion controls other then the voyager tech, i had one of those mounts and i might have got a lemon but it was in my option a piece of junk. after working on it for 2 weeks or so, i trashed it. if i was smart, i would have sent it back. donnie
