Here is a recent sketch I made of the bright globular cluster M3. I was planning to hunt some galaxies but the conditions turned out to be too poor for such observations.

TenthEnemy,
Fantastic sketch. I really like how you've captured the background glow of the glob and the variance in size and in magnitude of the stars.

TE,
An outstanding observation of M3 in Bootes. This is one of my favorite springtime (for us northern hemisphere people) objects to observe. Thank you for sharing it with us all.

I have great difficulties in skechting globulars and I'm always impressed with people who can put them right on paper. Fine sketch!

Thank you all for the comments! The brighter globs can indeed be difficult to sketch, it's easiest to just try to capture their impression rather than place every star with precision. M3 has many stars in the 14 to 15 magnitude range that shimmer with averted vision in my 10", but are impossible to accurately place.

Wonderful sketch of a beautiful globular cluster. Did you do this originally on white paper, then scan and invert the colors or straight on black paper?

It is graphite and ink on white paper. I photographed the sketch and inverted it.
