Hello!
On April 21st, I sketched this wonderful pair, after observing them with my 72mm WO Megrez apo with Baader maxbright binoviewer and magnifications from 21x to 53x. M97 seemed to show vague hints of the eyes (not drawn, it was too subtle) and M108 showed a faint star a little inside its cigar-shaped disk. After hunting for so many faint fuzzies in Virgo, it was nice to relax with something bright!

Excellent capture yet again. You have a nice niche going on here. Love the two small embedded stars in M97, maybe three? Anyway, good job as always and thanks for sharing this.

Thanks! I hadn't thought of it as being a "niche", but I can see what you mean. There are not so many wide field drawings on CN. Oh, sorry about the "stars" in M97. These seem to be tiny graphite particles from my pencil! I saw no stars inside M97. I did not see them when visually inspecting the drawing before scanning.

Thanks for the explanation but I was really, honestly impressed because in photos of M97 one can see 3 stars in the nebulosity that form a triangle as image shows. So I was complimenting you on a fantastic capture, while testing my middle age eyes.
Your sketch is wonderful and reminds me of this image
