About a year ago when I was just starting out in astronomy I tried to see this object, but never did. Now it seems like quite a bit of surprise because it was right there! I don't know how dark your site was, but this pair of colliding galaxies looked like a mishappen pair of lungs from the Conecuh National Forest through my own 10-inch. There is another very warped galaxy that is a mess in photos nearby, NGC-4027. It too would show it's weird shape through your telescope.
