This is a classic open cluster. A naked eye object on Vela. Omicron Velorum Cluster. Is a Lacaille discovery.

Nice! It is curious how a few of Lacaille's objects got IC numbers, not NGC... (This one, though, was likely first described by Al Sufi, and by Lacaille independently, although apparently there is doubt about the true identity of Al Sufi's "nebulous star.")

Al sufi probably notice this cluster .Its very obvious even on urban skies. Very bright .
